Adore vs ActiLymph® — What's the Difference?

Both Adore and ActiLymph® are European Class compression ranges from L&R designed for conditions where oedema is present. The key differences are:

ActiLymph® — Focuses on clinical effectiveness with stiffer fabric construction. Available in Class 1, 2, and 3. Best for patients who prioritise maximum therapeutic benefit and don't mind a more medical appearance.

Adore — Focuses on combining style with effectiveness. Softer, more luxurious fabric with attractive design details. Available in Class 1 and 2. Best for patients who want to look and feel great while still receiving clinically effective compression.

Both ranges deliver effective oedema management — clinical studies have shown that Adore maintains or reduces limb measurements over time, indicating effective oedema containment.

European Class Compression Levels

Adore uses the European (RAL) compression classification system:

Class 1 (18-21mmHg) — Light compression for early or mild chronic oedema and lymphoedema where swelling is light to moderate with little shape distortion. Also suitable for lipoedema, prophylaxis, maintenance therapy, palliative use, and pressure-sensitive patients.

Class 2 (23-32mmHg) — Medium compression for moderate to severe chronic oedema or lymphoedema. Can be used as part of active treatment and to provide ongoing maintenance therapy.

Important Considerations

Adore may not be suitable for all patients. Contraindications include:

• Large or irregular-shaped limbs (compression bandaging or ReadyWrap® may be more appropriate)
• Heavy wound exudate or large wounds
• Current acute inflammatory episode or cellulitis
• Acute deep vein thrombosis
• Significant arterial disease (ABPI <0.8 or >1.3) unless under specialist supervision
• Congestive heart failure
• Diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis (unless under specialist supervision)
