Compression Guide

This guide helps you understand the Daylong compression levels and how they translate to other compression classifications around the world.

Daylong Classification

Different manufacturers of compression hosiery work to different compression strength classifications. To help you avoid this confusion, we have created our own unified classification. We group products from all standards into five levels so you always find the widest range of options.

mmHg

What is mmHg?

mmHg stands for 'millimetres of mercury,' a standard unit for measuring pressure. In compression hosiery, it indicates the level of pressure the garment applies to your leg. A higher mmHg number corresponds to a higher level of compression. It is crucial to choose the correct mmHg for your needs, and you should always consult a healthcare professional for guidance.

UK

British Standard (UK)

The UK specification used by NHS prescriptions. Three classes from 14 mmHg up to 35 mmHg.

RAL

European Standard (RAL/EU)

The German-origin RAL standard widely used across Europe. Three classes from 18 mmHg up to 46 mmHg.

US

US Specification

Based on the RAL standard but with adjusted pressure ranges. Three classes from 15 mmHg up to 40 mmHg.

FR

French Standard (AFNOR)

The French AFNOR specification. Three classes starting from a lighter 10 mmHg up to 36 mmHg.
