Cellona®

Browse our Cellona® range from Lohmann & Rauscher, designed to support patients undergoing compression bandaging therapy for lymphoedema, chronic oedema, and venous leg ulcers. The Cellona® Shoe is specifically designed for patients with bandaged lower limbs and feet who cannot wear normal footwear, enabling safe mobility and independence during treatment. Fully adjustable with hook-and-loop fastenings, it can be worn closed-toe or open-toe to suit different weather conditions and patient preferences.

Supporting Mobility During Compression Therapy

Patients undergoing compression bandaging therapy for lymphoedema, chronic oedema, or venous leg ulcers often face a significant practical challenge: their bandaged feet simply won't fit into normal shoes. This can severely limit mobility, making it difficult to carry out everyday activities, get outside, or maintain independence during what may be weeks or months of treatment.

Lohmann & Rauscher developed Cellona® specifically to address this challenge. The range provides essential accessories that help patients stay mobile and comfortable throughout their compression therapy journey.

Cellona® Shoe — Walk Your Way to Recovery

The Cellona® Shoe is a specialist footwear solution designed for patients with bandaged lower limbs and feet. Unlike regular shoes or slippers, it's specifically engineered to accommodate even heavily bandaged feet while providing the stability, protection, and support needed for safe mobility.

Key features of the Cellona® Shoe:

  • Fully adjustable fit — Hook-and-loop (Velcro®) fastenings allow the shoe to be adjusted to accommodate varying bandage thicknesses and swelling levels throughout the day
  • Versatile wear options — Can be worn closed-toe for protection in cold or wet weather, or open-toe as a sandal for indoor use and warmer conditions
  • Generous wrap-around material — Accommodates even the most heavily bandaged feet
  • Non-slip sole — Sturdy, hard-wearing thermoplastic rubber sole provides excellent grip even on wet surfaces
  • Universal design — Can be worn on either the left or right foot
  • Easy to fasten — Pass-through plastic loop at the ankle makes fastening the straps simple, even for patients with limited dexterity
  • Washable — Can be hand washed at 30°C for hygiene
  • Wide size range — Available from Child's size 7½ to Men's size 13

Who Benefits from the Cellona® Shoe?

The Cellona® Shoe is designed for any patient who has bandaged lower limbs and feet and cannot wear normal footwear, including:

  • Patients with lymphoedema undergoing multi-layer compression bandaging
  • Those with chronic oedema requiring compression therapy
  • Patients being treated for venous leg ulcers
  • Anyone wearing plaster or synthetic casts on the lower leg or foot
  • Patients with wound dressings that prevent normal shoe wear

By enabling patients to safely go outside and return to their normal activities, the Cellona® Shoe helps encourage mobility, promotes healing, and improves quality of life during treatment.

The Cellona® Range — Padding & Accessories

While Daylong currently stocks the Cellona® Shoe, the broader Cellona® range from Lohmann & Rauscher includes synthetic padding products used as part of multi-layer compression bandaging for lymphoedema treatment:

Cellona® Synthetic Padding — A soft, elastic padding applied beneath compression bandages to ensure even pressure distribution and protect the skin. Key benefits include:

  • Cushions limbs and bony prominences to prevent sharp indentations and skin irritation
  • Self-adhering material that stays in place during application
  • Conforms easily to body contours including heels, knees, and elbows
  • Retains fullness during long-term wear for consistent pressure distribution
  • Latex-free (100% polyester fibres)
  • Can be sterilised up to 121°C

Cellona® Synthetic Padding is commonly used alongside short-stretch compression bandages as part of complete decongestive therapy (CDT) for lymphoedema management.

Sizing the Cellona® Shoe

Choosing the correct Cellona® Shoe size is important for comfort and safety. Each size has a maximum foot length and circumference capacity — be sure to measure your bandaged foot to ensure it will fit comfortably within the shoe. The adjustable straps provide flexibility, but selecting the appropriate size range is essential.

If you're unsure which size to choose, contact our team for guidance, or consult with your healthcare professional.

Care Instructions

The Cellona® Shoe can be hand washed at 30°C to maintain hygiene during extended use. Allow to air dry thoroughly before wearing again.
