Juxtacures Compression System

Adjustable hook-and-loop wrap for venous leg ulcer management

Juxtacures is an inelastic compression wrap for the lower leg from medi UK, used as an alternative to multi-layer compression bandaging. It is designed for the management of venous leg ulcers and related venous conditions, and is worn over the usual wound dressing. Overlapping hook-and-loop bands carry the printed indicators of the Built-In-Pressure System, so the same compression level can be set again each time the wrap goes back on.

Bands, fabric and fit

  • Breathe-O-Prene fabric, breathable and made to hold a high working pressure
  • 55% Nylon, 39% Polyurethane, 5% Elastane, 1% other fibres
  • Latex-free
  • Slim-line build, so normal footwear still fits and the ankle keeps a wide range of motion
  • Lengths Short, Standard and Long, in Beige

Taking it on and off

The wrap comes off and goes back on without unwinding a bandage, so skin checks and dressing changes are quicker. As swelling reduces, the bands are pulled in again to the same indicator mark. A nurse will usually fit it first and show you which marks to work to. Keep the hook-and-loop fastenings clear of fluff and hair, or they stop gripping as they should.

It's important to get the right fit when it comes to compression garments. That's why Daylong Shop recommends that you contact a nurse, GP or pharmacist to ensure that compression hosiery is appropriate for you. If so, you will then need to be measured in order to obtain the correct size which will ensure that the garment works correctly and feels comfortable. Compression hosiery may not be suitable for everyone. If you have diabetes, circulation problems, reduced sensation, fragile skin, heart failure or a diagnosed vascular condition, speak to a healthcare professional before using compression.
