Action Reliever

Offloading knee brace with magnetic buckles

The Action Reliever is a semi-rigid knee brace from Thuasne®, the French orthopaedic manufacturer, designed for the management of medial or lateral knee osteoarthritis and meniscal tears. Straps work with a rigid adjustable hinge on the affected side and a flexible stay on the other side to form a three-point pressure system, designed to do most of its work at heel strike. The profile is slim enough to wear under trousers.

Getting it on and setting the tension

Fitting is a two-step job. Slide the brace up the leg, then close the magnetic buckles. The front straps are yours to adjust, so you can set the tension where it suits you. Build up wear time over the first week rather than starting with a full day.

Knit, sizes and washing

• Anatomical knit with anti-slip silicone to hold the brace in place
• Shaped to keep pressure off the back of the knee and the edges of the brace
• Polyamide, elastane, polyester and cotton, with silicone and polyurethane parts
• Eight sizes, 1 to 8, in Grey
• Hand wash or machine wash cold, remove the metal hinges first and air dry

Sizing is based on your thigh, knee and calf measurements, and the brace is made to suit one side of the knee, so orientation matters as much as size. Check the size guide before ordering, and ask your GP, physiotherapist or orthotist to confirm the Action Reliever is right for your knee.
