European Class 3 is the firmest compression in the ActiLymph® range, at 34-46mmHg. The stocking reaches the top of the thigh and stays up on a silicone top band, so no suspender belt is needed, and the compression is graduated, firmest at the ankle. Lohmann & Rauscher make the range for the management of lymphoedema and long-term leg swelling.
The Open Toe leaves the toes clear, which helps if they are swollen or if the skin needs checking each day. Class 3 is a firm knit and takes some effort to get on. Work it up the leg in stages rather than hauling it from the top, and use an application aid if grip or bending is a problem. The top band sits at the top of the thigh, so measure the leg there as well as at the ankle and calf.
It's important to get the right fit when it comes to compression garments. That's why Daylong Shop recommends that you contact a nurse, GP or pharmacist to ensure that compression hosiery is appropriate for you. If so, you will then need to be measured in order to obtain the correct size which will ensure that the garment works correctly and feels comfortable. Compression hosiery may not be suitable for everyone. If you have diabetes, circulation problems, reduced sensation, fragile skin, heart failure or a diagnosed vascular condition, speak to a healthcare professional before using compression.
